We’re Britta + Will, the duo behind Browns Dope Little Adventures! We’re a 30’s-aged African American couple who for a year and half ditched traditional living (our house + an apt) to live full-time in an RV. But we actually lived stationary at an RV Park, not on the road. It was one of the best experiences we’ve had but when work moved us to colder Michigan, we opted to eventually get a super dope apartment downtown Detroit.
But that hasn’t stopped our RVing journey! We still go to careers in the sports industry and travel a good amount with our #houseonwheels in our off seasons.
We’re breaking the mold and living life as we want. We never thought we’d embark on this lifestyle and we’re excited to inspire you to live the life you want vs what society expects.
While that’s us now, here’s a scroll through our story…
In 2011, we met working in the University of Maryland Athletic Department. Will worked in football and I worked in athletics development and events.
In 2012, Will escaped the friend zone and we started dating!
In October 2013, I was offered a job back at my alma mater, UNC, in athletics. I moved to Chapel Hill, NC and we began a long distance relationship(insert tear).
On July 5, 2014, we got engaged! I was in town from NC for my family reunion and Will surprised me in front of ALL of my immediate and extended family!
On June 20, 2015, we got married at the place we met, University of Maryland. Pure magic.
I moved back to Maryland and we built a house! We moved into the house in August 2015.
After just 10 months in our house, Will got a job offer from the San Francisco 49ers. In July 2016, we moved to Cali.
In February 2017, we decided to buy an RV. We started with our 2018 Winnebago Winnie Drop and took it all over!
We decided to live full-time at RV Resort! We started in the 18ft Winnie Drop and eventually upgraded to a Keystone Outback.
We loved full-timing! We still went to our jobs, Will in football and me at a 6-12th private school working on staff and coaching lacrosse. It felt so normal to us even though we would get so many questions about our lifestyle. We met some amazing neighbors and had a great first full-time experience in Cali.
After about 15 months in California, Will was offered a job with the Detroit Lions. In March, we moved hooked up the RV and moved cross country!
And from April to December, called this place HOME! Living at the RV Park was a lot of fun but with winter and travel schedules, it could be a bit much for our lives.
Now we get to enjoy downtown living and still travel with our RV! The apartment has floor to ceiling windows all around and we look out at Canada or downtown Detroit 🙂
